Setting up the Ingenico iSMP4
Follow the steps below to get your wireless Ingenico iSMP4 device powered on and connected to your network. Once you have connected the device to wifi, move on to the video below to activate it through The Uniform Solution.
Navigation Tips
These tips will explain a few basic navigation and setup nuances.
- The keypad uses multi-tap entry,
- Example: pressing the 2 key repeatedly will go through the number 2 and the letters a, b and c in both lower and upper case.
- If the device is plugged in, it will turn on automatically.
- Left – (F1) // Right – (F4) // Down – (F-2) // Up – (F3)
- # + Yellow button = Reboot device
- Green button – Hold button to turn off device
- Red Button – Goes back to prior screen
- # + Yellow button = To exit “This Lane closed screen”
- # – Enters a symbol
- Yellow Key – to erase what has been typed
- To delete a Wi-Fi profile: press green key on highlighted Wi-Fi connection, press delete on next screen.
Installation
The information below will guide you through the out-of-box installation process for the Ingenico iSMP4.
Before you Start
Reviewing this section will set your installation up for success.
- Technicolor/Cisco Model DPC3941B Wireless Gateway (Modem/Router combo) NOT compatible with this device. The terminal would have to connect through another router and not directly to this Modem/Router Combo.
- Begin charging the device before installation and use.
- Ingenico recommends charging minimum of 3-4 hours before first use
- When ready, power on the device using the top right-side button.
- Continue to review the device for ‘Potential out of box Issues’ Configure Network
Potential out of box issues
Items listed below highlight issues that could be present out-of-box. If one of these issues is present, please contact The Uniform Solution Support to verify the issue and ensure a swap is placed right away.
- Physical damage in shipment
- “Alert Irruption” – Tamper protection has detected heavy impact or attempted tampering of the hardware.
- No Wi-Fi option available in settings
Charging and Powering on the Device
The device should be charged and ready to be powered on before starting setup.
- Charge the device using the supplied power adaptor and connect it to the USB-C connector port #5.
- Ingenico recommends charging a minimum of 3-4 hours before first use.
- Power on the device using the on/off button #2.
- As the splash screen from above displays press 2634 + Enter (Green Key)

- Next you will want to access and establish the network settings and connection in the next section ‘Configuring Wi-Fi Network Connection’
Configuring Wi-Fi Network Connection or Hot-Spot
Considerations for Hot-Spot’s
- The client will need to enable the hotspot feature on their mobile device and follow the standard wireless connection procedures below.
- The client will need to know le name of their network hotspot to select it during set-up
- It is important that the client understands their mobile plan – in some cases they may be charged for any data usage if they do not have an unlimited hotspot plan as the terminal could constantly use 5Mbps at minimum.
- If any issues arise it will be recommended the terminal attempt to connect to a normal internet connection before submitting a device swap.
After entering accessing the menu prompt by pressing 2634 + Enter (Green Key) during the boot splash screen. The device will display Press F for Menu, Press the F (Function button)
Press: 0-Telium Manager, 3-Initilization, 2-Hardware
Press: 5-Wi-Fi, 2-Scan network (Double Check top displays Wi-Fi (ON))
Once scanning is complete, Select the desired network (use keys, F2 (down)/F3(up) to navigate and then hit Enter (Green key). (Select ‘OTHER’ if needing to manually enter Hidden Network, on the next screen enter that hidden network name and press green button when done.)
For Hidden Network Manual Entry ONLY, otherwise select your Network Name and Go to the Next screen regarding Security.
Select Home Security and enter the Wi-Fi password using the keypad.
- The keypad uses multi-tap entry
- Navigation F1/F2/F3/F4 keys as needed: <INPUT PASSWORD>
Next, you will be prompted to set a priority, enter number 20 using the keypad and then hit Enter (green key) to progress to the next step.
The device will display “New Profile Ok” and will return the WiFi Menu (successfully configured WiFi at this point, assuming the password is correct)
Next, Power Off Device (if NOT currently charging), then Power on Device or Reboot
- Power OFF: by holding the power button on the upper right side of the device for a few seconds.
- Power ON: by holding the power button on the upper right side of the device for a few seconds.
- Reboot: by pressing # key and Yellow Key simultaneously for 4 seconds).
Once the terminal reboots you should see ‘TriPOS’ for the starting splash screen and can proceed to the ‘Successful Activation’ Section to verify the terminal assignment using MerchantTrack.
Activating UniformPay Terminal within The Uniform Solution

- Make sure you have the device powered on and displaying the activation code.
- Under Payments in the Home tab, select UniformPay Merchant Portal
- A notice screen will let you know that you are not currently setup for UniformPay and ask if you would like to activate terminals. Select “Yes”
- Enter in your Merchant Identifier for API provided to you via email. Contact the support team if you do not have this.
- In MerchantTrack, select Terminals and then View Terminals
- Input the Activation Code, name the devices something distinctive so you know which one in your store it is, and select Activate
- After the device updates and downloads any needed files, it should display a TriPOS logo on screen. Your device is now activated and ready to go! Contact the support team for UniformPay setup to activate the integration within your software once you are ready to go live.
